Bailey Pegasus Series II

The Bailey Pegasus Series II adopts several styling points from the Unicorn series

The Pegasus Series II is the second generation of the Pegasus range from Bailey Caravans. It features a restyled exterior and an improved interior with luxury appointments and new layouts.

The original Bailey Pegasus was the first range to be built using Bailey’s groundbreaking Alu-Tech bodyshell construction system. The manufacturer continued to add to the Alu-Tech family with the entry level Bailey Olympus in February 2010, shortly followed by the top end Bailey Unicorn series in July.

And it was the Unicorn which dominated Bailey’s order books in 2010 accounting for 85% of sales. The runaway success of the new luxury range inevitably impacted on the Pegasus, which was previously a best-seller for Bailey in 2009.

As the Pegasus is the Unicorn’s closest sibling in terms of price and specification, Bailey has moved to make a clearer distinction between the two lines. And the firm has now made a number of revisions to the Pegasus to give each line a stronger identity within the Alu-Tech portfolio.

Dropping two models from the original line-up, the second generation Pegasus has been rebranded using the names of Italian cities in place of the original model numbers. Customers can now choose from the Genoa, Milan, Verona, Ancona and Bologna.

The original 524 and 646 models have been discontinued, while the five remaining layouts span from the single axle two berth Genoa to the family friendly triple bunk Ancona – a brand new layout for the range.

In terms of styling, the Pegasus Series II takes its lead from the Unicorn range. It features new exterior graphics along with a colour change for the front gas locker from black to white.

Responding to customer feedback, Bailey has installed walnut-veneer cabinetry and a warmer upholstery colour scheme in place of the lighter woods and furnishings used in the original series.

And despite the improvements Bailey has reduced the price of the Pegasus range by £1,000 – though the TV, alarm and tracking device are no longer on the spec sheet.

In September 2011, Bailey expanded the Pegasus II range to include a fixed twin single bed layout, the Rimini.
