The Bailey Unicorn sits at the top of the Alu-Tech range of caravans

Bailey Caravans have grown their Alu-Tech range of touring caravans with the introduction of the Bailey Unicorn which was unveiled in August 2010.

Customers can expect to see a high-specification finish that places the Unicorn at the top of the Bailey Caravans portfolio. And a high level of interior features and design elements make this a serious upgrade from its nearest cousin the Bailey Pegasus.

Industry insiders agree that this new top end caravan range is the much-rumoured replacement for the Bailey Senator in the new Alu-Tech family.

Industry leading equipment has been used throughout the range. This includes an Alde wet central heating system that works in conjunction with the exceptional thermal insulations properties of the Alu-Tech construction system to allow for year-round touring. And interiors have been decorated in 'homely' soft furnishings and warm wooden tones.

Three models were included in the initial launch, the Barcelona, Valencia and Seville. The new range has witnessed exceptional uptake from dealers and customers, and two further 4 berth models were added shortly after namely, the fixed bed Almeria and the twin dinette Madrid.

The ultimate Alu-Tech caravan?

The Unicorn series is built on Bailey's pioneering Alu-Tech construction platform with an aluminium bodyshell. A proven technology which has received critical acclaim in the Pegasus and Olympus models, the benefits of the Alu-Tech shell are to be found in the structural interlocking aluminium framework that has no external fixing points. This makes it both exceptionally strong and provides first-rate protection against water ingress.

As with the bestselling Pegasus and Olympus ranges the market leading 10-year warranty is continued with the Bailey Unicorn. Despite recent discussions by Alu-Tech owners about the occurrence of stone chipping and dents on the aluminium fronts of the Pegasus and Olympus, the issue has been fully addressed in the release of the new range.

A 200 micron paint protection film is fitted to the front section of the all new Alu-Tech models and there is an additional plastic bumper fitted for further protection.

Setting the standard for premium luxury

With the demise of Fleetwood and Avondale Caravans manufactures over the last couple of years, Bailey is well positioned to fill a gap in the market for a top of the range model. After Bailey recently retired the best-selling Senator from what is now termed the "classic construction" range, many Bailey fans have commented that there was no true equivalent in the newer range. But the Unicorn has proved the natural replacement for the long-standing Senator.

Accounting for 85% of Bailey sales in 2010, the Unicorn has become a permanent fixture in the Bailey portfolio. Yet Bailey face stiff competition after Swift Caravans announced their all-new redesigned Swift Charisma and Sterling Europa models. In addition Elddis Caravans have come up with upgrades across their entire range, and relative newcomers Dunster House Caravans also provide stiff competition with their top-of-the-range Concordia series.

In September 2011, Bailey expanded their Unicorn range with the launch of two new four-berth, island bed layouts - the single-axle Cabrera and the twin-axle Pamplona. Both models made their debut in October 2011 at the NEC Caravan and Motorhome Show.

This was followed up in 2012 by the launch of a new twin fixed single bed layout, named the Bailey Unicorn Cadiz.

Below is a list of the current Bailey line-up including their 'classic construction' ranges:
